The Reg-N Prototype is the next generation recovery drink that was designed to work synergistically with the Ndure energy hydrating drink and Ndure High Energy Gel. The fuelling and the loading are, despite set at slightly different periods, not really different processes and both are influencing the recovery process. Recovery powders have forgotten to take into consideration that the process of building more efficient muscle starts fully when the body is at rest, calm, and especially - not malnourished.

We often think just of proteins, but what is of equal or even greater importance for an athlete is the every day energy storage levels. And many athletes are, unfortunately, not ingesting enough carbohydrates. This does not simply mean that we have to pour 100g of glucose into our protein powder, chocolate milk, or whatever we have invented at home to boost our recovery process. With the same carbohydrate composition as with Ndure, we were the first in the world to introduce a maltodextrin and fructose mixture in the ratio of 1: 0.8 in the recovery drink.  By combining these two carbohydrates, replenishment of both muscle and liver glycogen stores is optimised. This combination is also friendlier for the digestive tract, which is usually already extremely irritated after exercise (due to the consumption of large amounts of glucose, gels, bananas, almonds).

Training these days, even preparation for long races like triathlon is very structured and includes interval training, climbs, resistance training, active recovery... They are no longer aimlessly trying to reach a certain mileage. To-date, recovery drinks contained only a large amount of carbohydrates (up to 5:1 - carbohydrates: protein ratio) - the new Reg-N contains 50g of carbohydrates and as much as 30g of whey protein, produced in a British factory with a long-standing tradition and backed with proofs of its excellence. Supplemented with digestive enzymes, it does not contain any artificial flavor enhancers, sweeteners, or preservatives.

    Researchers from the University of Birmingham were the first to test if addition of fructose to glucose based carbohydrate source during recovery leads to improved recovery. They found that in runners, combining fructose and maltodextrin is more than 30% more effective than maltodextrin only ↪️

    What is new here?

    The Reg-N Prototype was designed with recovery and adaptations in mind. It is made of the same carbohydrate composition as its sibling Ndure 900g Prototype energy drink, thus containing both glucose based carbohydrate source (i.e., maltodextrin) and fructose. It also contains electrolytes, which are required for effective fluid balance restoration. The electrolytes ratios are adjusted sweat losses, so that you give the body what it needs after exercise. Last but not least, it contains a highly quality protein source.

    Reg-N Prototype is a recovery shake that takes into account the complexity of adaptations to endurance exercise. There are three pillars of the “recovery” process all beginning with a letter R. Rehydration. Recovery and Refulling of energy stores.


    There is no hiding behind the fact that exercise results in some kind of muscle damage depending on the intensity of exercise, its duration and environmental factors among others. Thus, it is crucial that in the time after exercise we initiate the recovery process. But not only recovery processes - positive adaptation needs to occur. This means that structural elements such as mitochondria become more capable of utilising oxygen.

    Reg-N consists of a high quality Whey Protein concentrate that has been shown over and over again to optimally stimulate protein synthesis. In other words it makes sure that the cell organelles get repaired and some of them built from scratch.

    Whey Protein is a complete source of amino acids. Amino acids are building blocks of protein and only when all of them are available can recovery processes take place. The composition of whey is ideal as it contains plenty of essential amino acids as well as the key amino acid Leucine that has been shown to be the prerequisite for an optimal initiation of muscle protein synthesis.

    Evidence has shown that 30 g of a highly quality protein source such as whey optimally stimulates protein synthesis - hence Reg-N consists of 30g of protein.


    During exercise we utilise carbohydrates coming both from a drink such as Ndure or from carbohydrate stores within the body. Those stores are also known as glycogen stores and are located in the liver and in the muscles.

    Thus, after exercise it is important to restore glycogen stores as effectively as possible in order to get ready for the next exercise session. And it is not only that - carbohydrate intake is necessary also for the process of recovery mentioned above as protein synthesis requires energy. And carbohydrates ingested after exercise are a great energy source.

    Lately, research has shown that it is important what type of carbohydrates we consume in recovery.  Namely, glucose based carbohydrates (i.e., maltodextrin) are optimal for replenishment of muscle glycogen stores but suboptimal for the restoration of liver glycogen. Fructose, on the other hand, has been shown to be substantially more effective in filling up the liver glycogen. Thus, Reg-N contains a blend of maltodextrin and fructose in 1:0.8 ratio. Interestingly, this ratio is exactly the same as in the Ndure or Nduranz gel, making it a highly compatible product.

    In terms of quantity, there is evidence available showing that 1.2 grams of carbohydrates per kg of body weight are required for optimal stimulation of glycogen synthesis. However, when protein is added, this amount is smaller. As a result, we came up with a simple solution providing 30g of protein and 50g of carbohydrates which should optimally stimulate both synthesis of glycogen stores in the liver and protein synthesis.


    There is almost no chance to match fluid losses during exercise and the amount of ingested fluid. As a result you always finish the exercise session at least slightly dehydrated. This means that you have to make sure that you replace the fluid lost during exercise as quickly as possible. Had you drank only water in the recovery, this water would be very quickly lost via urine as it does not contain any electrolytes. Research has shown that combining electrolytes, protein and carbohydrates helps with rehydration.

    Reg-N thus also contains electrolytes and minerals. We have decided to add only the electrolytes and minerals and in the ratios lost in the sweat as well. Because why would you replace something that isn’t lost during exercise in the first place?


    There is no evidence that isolate is better as compared with a high quality whey concentrate. Even more, isolate’s taste is not as pleasant and the texture not so great. So, we have decided to simply use concentrate. As per the small amounts of fats and lactose in the concentrate - fat should not affect anything. Lactose, on the other hand can only cause problems in a small number of people and to prevent this, we have added digestive enzymes, including lactase.
